Q: Why does my brand new 2011 Honda Accord 4 cylinder get less than 20 mpg city/highway combined?
I purchased a new 2011 Honda Accord 4-door, 4 cylinder sedan December 1, 2010. I have filled it 5 times. I have been doing a combination of city and highway driving. I am always keep to the speed limit, and since I am driving with young children, never brake hard or accelerate too quickly. I have yet to get even 20 mpg. Ever tank has been less than 20 mpg. With my previous car (a 1995 Volvo 850 sedan) I got great gas mileage and always higher in the winter when I am not using A/C. I am already concerned that with A/C I will get even lower gas mileage. The sole reason I chose this car over another one I was considering was gas mileage. Any helpful hints? I have tried visiting several different gas stations and nothing is working. I also find it odd that the first tank of gas (from the dealer b/c it was full when I purchased it) gave me such poor gas mileage. Someone told me the car will take longer to warm up in the cold, but I have not gotten better gas mileage on longer highway trips. Also, this is not my first car and I have always lived in cold climates and I have always gotten good gas mileage in winter. Please help!

A: Several Reasons,
Your engine and drive train is new. The gas mileage will go up quite a bit as the car gets broken in. It’ll probably be a good 5000 miles before you really start seeing it rise.

Check the tire pressure. You may find it is lower than the Honda Recommend PSI on the door. You may also want to experiment with higher tire pressures. My Honda Accord (a 1999 V6) gets quite a bit better gas mileage with the tires at 42 psi(two psi below the sidewall max cold.) The handling also sharpens up quite a bit. The caveat is that the ride is a bit stiffer and harsher. Tread wear has always been even for me even at the higher pressure.

Use regular gas instead of Premium. regular gas has more chemical energy per gallon than premium.

On my Honda Accord if you turn the defroster ON. The AC automatically is turned on as well. I manually turn it off by hitting my relevant switch. You may have a similar situation.

Floor it every once in a while during the break in period(I know honda says don’t) It will help get your rings probably sealing and set your car up for long term good gas mileage and low oil consumption.

My Accord gets the best gas mileage on shell. I don’t know why but its just something ive noticed.
Wait until after the first oil change to judge your gas mileage. My mothers 2007 Accord gas mileage improved after changing the factory break in oil. It has special additives to help with break in so do not remove it early but just keep in mind that it may not be oil that gives optimal gas mileage.

Q: I got offer for 2011 Honda Accord EXL V4 $ 24200.Color is Black and Black. It is good offer?
P Mack I like your comments…and welcome to others.

Thanks

A: Sounds pretty reasonable.. I don’t know specifics on prices but I know the EXL V6 can go for over $30k, so mid $20’s for 4-cyl seems ok.. Shop around don’t just take the first offer you get.

Q: How quick does a Honda Accord coupe go 0-60 MPH?
A 2011 Honda Accord coupe with the 190 HP 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine and automatic transmission?

A: 6.8 to 7.5 seconds if it was a manual it would be faster

Q: difference between 2010 Honda accord sedan LX and 2011 Honda accord sedan LX?
i just wanted to know the difference between those 2 cars

A: The 2011 Accord is mid-cycle refresh, meaning there are slight exterior, interior and engine tweaks. http://www.hondapreview.com/accord/index.htm

Q: 2011 honda civic or 2011 honda accord?
18 year old college student that needs a car!
which one do you recommend!?

please & thank you!(:

A: Either car would do nicely. It just depends on your wants/needs when it comes to interior size. The Civic is a nice compact car, whereas the Accord is significantly bigger as it is a midsize family sedan. If you will be carrying people in the back seat often, the Accord is a good choice for comfort (more rear leg room) Also, the Accord was recently updated for 2011 with a reworked transmission and aero upgrades for modest fuel economy gains.

The Civic is an all around good performer, but is getting a bit long in the tooth when compared to newer offerings in the compact car segment (Chevy Cruze, Hyundai Elantra, VW Jetta, etc). However, both are very reliable. I am a Honda fan myself.

If you can afford to wait a bit, the all new 2012 Civic will be revealed at the North American Auto Show in January, and should be in dealerships early 2011. It should put the Civic back in front (or at least close to it) in the compact segment.

Q: 2011 Honda Accord Coupe Vs. Nissan Maxima Coupe?
Which do you think is better and why!!!

A: Honda Accord!

Q: When do the 2011 Honda Accords come out?
I’m planning on buying a 2008 Honda Accord V6 Coupe. There’s not really any other cars that have caught my interest. I’m not looking to pay over $400 a month.

I was planning on purchasing the car in July but I heard that it would be better to buy the car towards October. Will the price drop if I buy the car once the 2011 Accords are released? If so, when do the 2011 models come out?
I’m planning on buying it pre-owned from the dealer. I live in California if it makes a difference. Thanks.

A: Excellent choice my friend! The current generation V6 Coupes are absolutely stunning and the manual is fast (relative). There is a charcoal one just down the road from my house (drool!)

Honda traditionally releases it’s new models in the fall (although the industry itself continues to push release dates up.) So look for the 2011 in August, September, or October. There are no drastic mechanical changes expected for the 2011 Accord. Just some refreshening of the nose and tail and some minor interior changes. It is rumored to get it’s next full redesign in model year 2013.

That said, I wouldn’t expect the arrival of the 2011 to affect your pricing of a 2008. But definitely shop around. It’s worth driving an hour or two to get the one you want at the price you want.

Good luck!

Q: What is the best family sedan? Honda Accord 2011? Sonata 2011?
I have done my research and learned that the Sonata has come a long way. I currently own an Accord with a V6 and I love the extra horse power. I want something that does have some power. I was thinking about looking at the Sonata Turbo. What is Turbo by the way? Is it better than a V6 engine? What are the pros and cons of the Accord and Sonata? Is there any other car that I am missing out on? I don’t really like Camry because I don’t like the drive as much. What is the invoice for the Sonata and Accord?

A: Hyundai got rid of their V6 model for the Sonata because the gas mileage was bad so the turbo has more power, but it’s a 4 cylinder. From looking at cars for myself, I went with the Honda because the space in the front of a Sonata is small. I’m 5′2” and my head was almost touching the ceiling in the front. I don’t think that would be safe in an accident as much as they try and excuse it. The invoices of the cars are similar. They range from low 20s to high 20s, but Honda negotiates more. I’ve been to several Hyundai dealerships and they don’t like to give cars for invoice. I have a Honda and I got it below invoice because I bought a car report so I knew exactly what they were paying for the car. The only other car I would suggest is the Altima. Also, if you are looking at slightly more expensive cars, you could get a Subaru because it’s 4 wheel drive so it’s safer. The Sonata drives nicely and everything about it is pretty nice except for the fact that it’s small in the front and from experience people at Hyundai dealerships tend to be seedier people. I do evaluations for car companies so I see how they treat customers from a different perspective. The accord is nice. The interior looks really nice. It drives well and it gets good mileage. It also has a decent amount of power.. even the 4 cylinder. Good luck.

P.S. American cars have more problems so I wouldn’t suggest any of them.

Q: What is a faster way to find a new Honda Accord 2011 LX-P in celestial blue color in CA, very hard to find?
I live in CA but Honda does not make many of the light blue colors available. Is there a way online to search dealers with the click of a button or do I have to make a call to each dealer one by one? Many times the salesperson will not disclose which colors they have in stock, and sometimes lie that they have it when they do not. I cannot drive to each dealer because this would take forever.

A: I found that if you are a serious buyer, the salesperson will go in their and the other dealers’ database and see where the exact car you want is. You could place an order for the car, just to ensure you get the exact car you want.

Q: Should I get the Honda Accord Coupe or the Nissan Altima Coupe?
I’m getting a new car and I really like how these two are styled…
I like the coupe, because the shape just seems to look better than the four door styles.
So I’d just like your input on which one I should get…

2011 nissan altima coupe
or
http://automobiles.honda.com/accord-coupe/
2011 honda accord coupe

A: On paper they are both pretty similar. Go test drive them and see which one you think feels and drives better..

Q: What’s better? G25 or Honda Accord?
I really really badly want a 2011 Infiniti G25 Sedan Journey but my fiance wants a 2011 Honda Accord EX. Which is better?

A: Neither, you are comparing unreliable junque to unreliable junque so flip a coin. They are both going to make you learn where every mechanic in town lives and unless you want to be branded as BORING don’t get either since they are both famous for being BORING cars.
Besides, Japanese and Korean quality has been going down hill faster than a rocket powered sled on a greased rail in recent years.
Get American or European for quality and safety, Japanese and Korean cars are pretty crappy for the most part.

Q: Can somebody give me the exact specs for stock honda accord 19 in rim and tire.?
I bought a 2011 accord with 17 in rims and want to put the stock 19 in rim and tire cause they look better. I have to buy them aftermarket cause there too freakin expensive at dealer.

A: Why would you go to the dealer? Go to sears. They always have Tires on sale. With a 19in rim your gunna want 215/40/19’s. I would recommend the Falken 502’s or some Michelin’s. In case your not familiar in tire mesurements here is how its broken down.

215/40/19 = 215 is how wide the tire is or better to side how much tire rubber is on the ground. My personal opinion is put the wides tire you can on your rim. Will give you better grip on the road.

215/40/19 = 40 is the profile of the tire. You ever see big rims with really thin tires? Well the middle number tells you the thickness of the tire from the side of the rim to where the top of the tire is. Anything 40 and below is considered “Low Profile Tires”

215/40/19 = 19, kinda obvious. Its the size of the rim the tire is made for.

Hope this helped. Keep those other smaller rims. Put Winter/Snow tires on them in case you live in an area where it snows. Then you dont have to tear up those rims come winter. Just swap them out. Hope this helped.

Q: Which is the better car? The 2011 Hyundai Sonata or Honda Accord.?
I am leaning toward the Sonata but am not sure.

Also which do you think looks better?

A: When Hyundai first came out, it was a vehicle that you could not give away. Over the years it has improved greatly but has not yet come up to the quality of the Honda. In short, It’s Sonata Honda but getting better all the time. Many years of working on them tells me to go with the Honda.

Q: how to make honda accord sedan 2010 look like 2011? how much will it cost?

A: You can find most of the parts used on the internet, the costs will vary and overall may not be worth it.
