Q: 2011 Toyota Rav-4 vs. 2011 Honda Cr-V EX?
I’m looking to buy my first car and want to get a mid size SUV. After looking around at Toyota, Honda, Nissan, VW and Ford I narrowed down my search to the RAV4 and Cr-V. I came to these two options based on price, fuel economy, space, and maintenance. To be specific my choice is between the 2011 RAV-4 Sport and the EX Cr-V. I am leaning toward a RAV4 because I like its looks a lot better than the Cr-v.

————I was hoping that someone more knowledgeable could tell me the pros and cons of each vehicle.——–

Here’s the comparison:

2011 Toyota RAV4 Sport Edition
2.5L 4-Cylinder
4 Speed Automatic
4X4
Appearance Package
Black Exterior
Dark Charcoal Interior

VS.

2011 Honda Cr-V EX
2.4L 4-Cylinder
4wd Automatic
Black Exterior
Black Interior

Any and all help will GREATLY be appreciated!!!!!!
Thanks in advance!

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: What is the better car?
I’m 15, looking for a car. I’ve been saving for a really long time. And my parents will help me as long as I get a job. I am looking for safety, economy, and looks aren’t everything, but I don’t want to drive an ugly car. That sounds kinda snobby:(
Anyways I’m trying to decide between about 6 cars/SUVs. I have done so much research and comparisons, but they are all equal pretty much.

-2011 Honda Civic Coupe
-2011 Honda Accord
-2005 Toyota Rav4
-2011 Honda Cr-V
-2011 Nissan Sentra

Which is safer and easier to maneuver for a young driver? Also, what are the differences in SUVs and cars, safety wise? Thanks!:)

A: Where do you live, do you get snow? If so, I would get the Rav4 if it has 4 wheel drive. Otherwise, any of the Honda’s are great choices. I would go with the Civic myself.

Q: I need help picking out a car. Help?
I will be 15 in two months. I know I really shouldn’t be concerned about getting a car yet, but I’m pretty sure I need to buy my own so I started looking into different companies and types of vehicles and I have a few questions:)

1. I really love SUVs. My favorite car I’ve looked at is a 2011 Honda CR-V. Are SUVs really safe for teenagers? Also, what are the pros and cons of the 2011 Honda CR-V besides the price?
2. What car is trendy, safe, and good on gas mileage?
3. When I get a car, I need to pick up my cousin and little brother up from school everyday. I need a vehicle that will be able to keep them safe.
4. Also, when buying a used car, how many miles is too much?
5. Lastly, how much should I generally pay for my car?

Also, if you have any extra helpful comments, please feel free to say them:) Thanks!

A: to be totally honest..your concerns on buying your first car lie solely on what you can afford..that means car purchase, insurance, gas, & maintenance..start there…then go looking with pops..don’t have to buy, & they don’t need to now you’re not buying…helps to shop & learn…I like CRV’s myself but they keep getting bigger…I’m one for practical mileage…but good luck, ’shopping’ is the best experience you can get…& ya got a good resource staring you in the face..the internet..lots of info on all types of cars, & comparisons too…

Q: Which is better a 2WD, 4WD, FWD, or a AWD, and what’s the difference between them?
I’m looking to get either an 2011 chevy equinox, chevy traverse, honda cr-v, kia sportage, or ford escape hybrid…and I want to know which is better and also what’s the difference.

A: Well, you’ve actually asked two questions, but I am happy to answer both. First as to the drive lineup. 2WD means that 2 wheels are getting power, and making the car move. Can refer to either Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) or Front Wheel Drive (FWD.) Rear wheel drive is typically better for performance, since you can power-slide around corners, drift, and do other tricks. Front wheel drive is better in snow and ice, and can take corners faster on dry pavement. 4WD means all 4 wheels get power, great for mud, snow/ice, and off-roading, but not very good fuel economy. AWD still applies power to all 4 wheels, but is managed by a traction sensing system that changes the amount of power delivered to each wheel based on traction and turning. AWD is the best for control in snow and ice, and generally gives fuel economy comparable to 2WD cars. If you are not a racer, and you don’t drive as fast as you possibly can, it doesn’t really matter. If you drive in snow and ice, AWD is the best, FWD is the next best. If you want to go fast and do awesome tricks with your car, RWD is the only way to go. If you like mudding and rock-crawling, 4WD is for you.

Ok so to compare the cars….Honda CRV is the best, hands down. I’ve worked on all the above cars so I know what I am talking about. CRV has AWD, disc brakes all the way around, and a simple and easy layout. Both the Chevy’s are garbage. Old-fashioned drum brakes in the rear, a totally lame steering setup, and absolutely worthless steering system. Kia sportage is OK, but the engine is not likely to last more than 7 or 8 years. The oil ports are too small, the rear main seal is thin as paper, the journal bearing around the main crank is machined to a very low standard of .02″ clearance…. you don’t want that motor, trust me. Ford escape hybrid, is an OK vehicle, but the electronics are destined for failure. The air conditioning control switches have the weakest possible connection, the seats wear out faster than anything else, the rear suspension is more fitting for a go-kart, the transmission main shaft is about as big as a sharpie marker, and the whole car has more plastic than metal. Get the CRV and you’ll have a car that lasts a long, long time, and is easy and cheap to fix when something does eventually break.

Q: what car for a 16 yr. old?
okay, i am about to turn 16 and i am finally getting my own car. i do not want a truck either a small suv, sedan, or coupe. my mom told me she would buy me a used 07-08 bmw 328i which a bmw is my dream car. but i will have to either pay some of the car note or insurance. so should i get this or a more reliable vehicle? i like the honda accord coupe and the 2011 hyundai sonata. my mom told me to get a honda cr-v which i like because it is an suv and i am 5′11 so i need room but its not exactly sporty looking. could you give me some good new or used cars for a 16 year old between the prices of $18,000 – $24,000.
and preferably no ford, chrysler, or dodge.
The vehicle doesn’t have to be between those two prices. The maximum limit is $24,000.

A: If you can get a honda, jump on it.
Pass on the BMW. You will regret it when it needs repairs!
That $24k could buy my first car 100 times (but I bought it way back in 1987)

Q: Cute cars for a 16 year old girl?
Before you say it, I can’t have a mini cooper or a vw bug.
Now that that’s out of the way! Haha. I like the Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Tucson, and I kinda like things like the Nissan Versa. I also looove the mini cooper, but I’m not allowed to have one. Are there more cars like the one I like, or just cute cars with personality?

Cars that are brand new or are coming out in 2011 are not an option as I have a budget of about 13,000.
A compact car would also be nice. I like cars that are more round (not the vw beetle.)

A: Try the Volkswagen Jetta.

Q: which car is better to buy?
so I am thinking of buying a car a 2011 of course. I am not sure wether a Honda Civic would be better or a CR-V…… I like the CRV becaue of the safety features. But I like the Civic because it is sporty and small and compact. According to the Site it has the same safety features as the CR-V. But I need yalls personal opinions as to which car may be best to buy. I have never owned a honda and I don’t know how far you can go mile wise before having car problems.

A: If you have kids or plan to while having this vehicle, get the CR-V. If not… probably the Civic. It’s better on gas. It’s a pain to fit strollers and kid accessories in a trunk… and for vacations everyone’s luggage… etc…

A: Cars are easier to drive usually than SUVs, and at the same time SUVs are usually safer than cars. Both of these are not true 100% of the time though. If I had to pick one for myself I would go with the Honda Civic Coupe, kind of a fun little car.

All of these cars/SUVs are in a similar class and will give you a pretty similar quality. So with that, o by what you like best. You’ve done enough researching to narrow it down to this and I assume you’re asking here because you’re stuck. Comparing more numbers and statistics won’t make much of a difference anymore. You should go by price, feel (test drive), and overall appeal. Just what you like best.
